Open Injuries and Trauma Related Wound Care

Open injuries involve breaks in the skin with exposure of deeper tissues or bone, significantly increasing infection risk and healing complexity.

Why Open Injuries Are High-Risk

  • Direct contamination
  • Soft tissue loss
  • Higher chance of delayed or non-healing fractures

Detailed Wound Assessment

  • Size, depth, and contamination level
  • Muscle, tendon, and bone involvement
  • Blood supply and nerve status

Management Principles

  • Early wound cleaning and debridement
  • Infection prevention protocols
  • Soft tissue protection and coverage
  • Close monitoring during healing

Proper wound care is essential to prevent chronic infection, bone infection, and functional loss.

Management of Complex Injuries & Severe Trauma

Not all injuries can be safely managed in an outpatient clinic setting. Complex injuries, including pelvic fractures, hip fractures, polytrauma (multiple injuries), and high-impact accident injuries, often require hospital admission for close medical supervision.

  • Continuous monitoring of vital signs
  • Advanced imaging and emergency interventions
  • Observation in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or High Dependency Unit (HDU) to prevent life-threatening complications

At present, ICU and HDU facilities are not available at our clinic. Therefore, patients with severe trauma, unstable injuries, or high-risk orthopedic conditions are best managed in a fully equipped hospital environment.

Our Approach: Safety-First Medical Guidance

  • Perform thorough clinical assessment and early risk identification
  • Provide clear medical advice on the need for hospital admission
  • Guide patients and families toward appropriate hospitals with ICU/HDU facilities
  • Offer follow-up consultation and rehabilitation planning after hospital treatment

By ensuring timely referral and proper guidance, we help patients receive the right treatment at the right level of care, reducing complications and improving recovery outcomes.

When Hospital Admission Is Strongly Recommended

  • Pelvic and hip fractures
  • Multiple fractures or injuries from road traffic accidents
  • Injuries with severe pain, swelling, or neurological symptoms
  • Trauma requiring intensive monitoring or emergency surgical care

We remain committed to ethical, responsible, and patient-centered healthcare, offering expert evaluation while prioritizing safety over convenience.
